Nexora

A fictional scientific instrumentation company created to demonstrate how Venture Shape opens a mechanism a photograph cannot show, and makes a five-year development history something a viewer can move through.

01Communication challenge

The differentiator is sealed inside the machine.

Nexora’s advantage is a consumable chip that seats inside a benchtop instrument. Nothing about it is visible from outside, and a photograph of the instrument shows a box.

A cutaway diagram can show the parts. It cannot show the order in which they matter, or what an operator actually does to make the system work.

The communication problem is giving a viewer the experience of opening the instrument, rather than a picture of it already open.

02Narrative structure

Let the viewer operate the mechanism.

The sequence begins outside the instrument and ends at the detector, and the viewer is the one who moves it.

The visual system uses:

  • one continuous view rather than cut scenes
  • the viewer’s own action as the trigger for each stage
  • a single spatial model held across every stage
  • development history told as working states, not as dates
  • motion tied to the mechanism, never to decoration

Because the viewer loads the chip themselves, the mechanism becomes something they operated rather than something they were shown.

03Interactive experience

The instrument, opened

The instrument and its consumable chip, drawn as one system. A visitor loads the chip themselves and the view travels inside, so the mechanism is something they operate rather than something they are shown.

Development timeline, year by year

Five years of development as one navigable line. Each year redraws the instrument at the stage it had reached, so progress reads as a sequence of working states rather than a list of dates.

Step through the years

A page, built in front of you

One page and the five states it passes through: layout grid, wireframe, design, source, live site. Nothing is cut away and re-shown - the same elements change state in place, so the visitor watches the process rather than a slideshow of its results.

04Static translation

The same sequence, four frames, no browser.

The interactive experience lets a viewer set the pace. The static set preserves the same order and the same emphasis for a partnering deck, a distribution PDF or a printed page.

    The instrument as a buyer meets it. Nothing about the mechanism is visible.

    Chip loaded

    The consumable seats into the stage. The system now has two parts, not one.

    Inside the path

    The view travels in. Sample, separation and detector sit on one line.

    Reading

    The separation resolves and the detector returns a spectrum.
